During Weeks 4 and 5 the Junior School children went to the Clive Indoor Pools to work on their swimming skills. Here are the Room One children's thoughts.
I have been at the pools. It is indoors. It was new Clive pools. I tried to do freestyle. It was hard to do with goggles. The pool was enormous. I had a teacher called Paula. Paula is cool and fun. It was almost perfection. I might be better at floating than freestyle. But definitely better at freestyle in the little pools. Because there is a thing which means you need to swim in the big pools when you are floating. It felt like drowning!!
By Manawa
I went swimming. I dived into the water. I had to get sinking things. I could float on my back. I can swim fast. The safe side to get in the pool is to go on the steps. Then I go under the water.

At swimming I learn about floating on my back and the pool is blue and I get changed and I said thank you and I was happy.
By Leyton
The teachers taught me how to do swimming and do freestyle on my tummy and that was fun.
I liked it.
By Naomi
Splash!! I went swimming. I was sinking and then I stood up because I was running out of breath and then I kept swimming. In the Clive Pools I put on the goggles and float backwards. I kicked faster. I like swimming. I like the warm water. I like pools. I like swimming pools.

I was swimming. I liked it. I was delighted. I want to go there again.
By Lucus
Today we learnt about seat dives with your arms behind your ears and with no legs kicking. I went fast like a red flame speedboat with heaps of horsepower and I almost donged my head on the bottom of the pool.
By Ned
At the Clive Pool today I did freestyle and I was exhausted... Splash and then we did starfishes and we floated.
By Tom
The teacher was throwing animals. It was fun. We went to learn and it was cool.
By Keiara
Splash in the pools I did a big jump in it. Then we were floating. Then we did streamlining.
By Patrick
We have to get in safely in the pool. We do freestyle and it's my favourite part.
By Blake

Making Cars
As part of our Inquiry we earned money for the work done in our room ( income )
and in groups of three we had to use this money to buy the components we needed to build a car.
We then had see which car went the furtherest to be the class winners then had a competition with the Junior Syndicate then the whole school to see which car (group) were the Clive School Champions!!
Unfortunately Room One cars didn't win the Championship but alot of fun was had in the designing and building. Except for poor Seth who skewered his hand instead of the carrot OUCH!!
Congratulations to our class winners:
( Jahzana, Bryn and Wilbur) and ( Naomi, Lucus and Ned )
Well done for the awesome work put in by the other teams as well.
Here are some photos of the testing.

Library
We visit the School Library every Friday to get a book to enjoy at home over the weekend.
We are lucky to have such a great place full of wonderful books.
We love relaxing in our Library and know we have to keep quite quiet so everyone can read.

Lemon Experience
We looked at, touched, smelt and tasted lemons to build up a bank of describing words for our writing.
Then we wrote about our lemon experience using some wonderful describing words.
Lastly we did some observational drawings of the lemon.
Here is some examples. Feel free to come in and see / read the rest.
