How to make a Fire Extinguisher.

Today we made our own Fire Extinguisher. In a bottle we mixed vinegar and baking soda. Our bottle had a straw attached, and we lit 3 candles. The vinegar and baking soda reacted together and created a gas called carbon dioxide. The gas blew out the candles. We could hear the gas escaping from the bottle.

Milk on the move.

Here is Room 01 doing a science experiment. We used "whole milk", which has lots of fat in it. Added drops of different food colourings and dish liquid. The dish liquid tries to break down the fat in the milk and it swirls and twirls, mixing the colours and moves the milk around the dish.

What happens if you use different milk? What happens if you use different dish liqiud?

Catastrophic currants..."Dancing Raisins".

Today we mixed vinegar, baking soda and raisins together. The vinegar and baking soda made a gas and formed bubbles. The bubbles attached to the raisins and they floated to the top, 'Popped', and sunk to the bottom.
